New travelers from Morocco are joining the contemporary arts caravan! Caravanserai is excited to introduce you to the musicians featured in our second season.

Celebrating the rich cultural heritage of their homeland, the artists of Caravanserai: Morocco will share the sights, sounds, and stories of their country with a new set of communities from 2012 - 2013.

Majid Bekkas Ensemble

Starting this October, Majid Bekkas Ensemble will tour throughout the United States, sharing the soulful, bluesy music of North Africa's Gnawa culture through concerts and workshops in Grand Rapids, MN; Jamestown, ND; Fayetteville, AR; and Nashville, TN. Oud maestro Brahim Fribgane will also join the ensemble on their month-long tour.

Then, in the Spring of 2013, Caravanserai: Morocco music residencies will feature the world renowned Orchestra of Fes conducted by Mohammed Brioule. The Orchestra of Fes plays signature Arab and Andalusian classical music. These talented musicians will share a piece of Morocco’s national identity with U.S. audiences.
